Once you know how to cook it, quinoa is a really good addition to salads, vegetables or a nice alternative to serve with casseroles or curries. By cooking a little extra you will have some ready for lunches or a breakfast alternative.

Here are the steps to follow for perfect quinoa every time.

  1. Always rinse quinoa well under cold water using a fine mesh strainer, and rub the grains together with your hands. This removes the natural coating that can sometimes cause a bitter taste.
  2. Measure out 1 cup quinoa (serves 2) and add 1.5 cups water, place both in a pot with a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Bring to the boil, then cover and reduce to simmer (low heat) for 10-15 minutes, or until all the water has absorbed.
  4. Leave to stand for 5 minutes, then fluff up with a fork before serving.

Voila! Perfectly cooked quinoa ready to eat.

Please note that the clinic has moved across the hall to a new location on level one. If you are seeing Joanna at the Stones Corner clinic allow a few extra minutes to locate the rooms.

Thank you for your patience during this transition period.
